Welcome to this blog post, Witches and Lovers! You and I may share almost the same sentiments towards the approaching Valentine's. One thought and your stomach are in knots? I feel you.
With the recent events centering around Covid-19, it is normal to feel nostalgic for the traditional romantic movie nights, long walks by the beach, restaurant dates, traveling in another city, what else? Name it, we all wish and yearn for this entire pandemic to soon be over. But just like Warren Buffett’s 5/25 Rule, why don’t we focus more on things that we can control and assess what really matters?
For one, it wouldn’t take time to reflect that what does matter is who we share this Valentines with and secondly, how we can make them feel more special during this event. After all, Valentine's doesn’t require any place or any terms at all as long as whatever we plan to do comes from our hearts.

Herbs have been used for medicine, healing, rituals, and magick for centuries. The one thing to remember is herbs are living things. They each have their own unique energy vibration and should be treated with respect. When working with herbs I always recommend thanking the plant spirit for their aid.

Knowing the magickal properties will help you decide which herbs to choose from for your magickal purposes.

Jar spells are incredibly handy and can be used for many intentions. Once you learn the basics you can use a jar spell for just about any magical goal. Jar spells are also known as container spells or bottle magick. A spell is sealed inside a jar or container; this is extremely popular in many traditions of folk magick.Â
The idea of a jar spell or bottle spell is it keeps the magick (intention) concentrated and prevents the spell from disbursing before it has had time to manifest into reality. The other nice thing about jar spells is that they are portable and can be discreet if they are tiny! You can take them just about anywhere! Be creative with your jars, paint them, add sigils, charms, herbs, liquid, honey, etc – the possibilities are endless.Â
Remember to think of things that give off the type of energy you are desiring to raise or attract. Use items that have personal meaning and use items that are associated with your particular intent.

Welcome to our collective favourite season, witchy folk! Perhaps that’s a generalization, but the Autumnal vibes are an absolute mood in the spiritual community, and for so many reasons. This season we have two Sabbats to celebrate; the first of those is Mabon, otherwise known as the Autumn Equinox, and the hemispherical counterpart to Ostara, in which we celebrate the Spring Equinox.Â
Not only is Autumn the season of flavoured lattes and pumpkins, it is the season of the colours of the Earth – oranges and reds and browns, greens and glorious yellows. We have beautiful harvest vegetables and burgeoning berries; a veritable feast of offerings from our beautiful Mother Earth to celebrate.Â
For Mabon, we focus on the beginning of the end of the harvest season and the descent into wintery darkness. Spiritually, we are reaching the closing-down portion of the year – as the days get shorter and the evenings are longer, we assess the outcomes of our labour (physical, financial, emotional, spiritual) across the past twelve months. Summer is celebration, and Autumn is when we reap what we’ve sown. So, as we draw towards the end of this summertime haze and commence the darkening and hibernation periods, we’re beginning to wind down business and take stock of what we’ve achieved.Â
Seasonal altars are a great way to focus our attentions and intentions towards that for which we are grateful, and the things that we want to manifest in our lives. Not only does the season dictate our physical activities, it also directs our spiritual lives, and the altar is the witch’s way of centring that energy.
With so much to love and celebrate about Autumn, let’s take a look at some traditional (and not-so-traditional) items to feature on our altars during this time.Â

As the lockdown eases around the world, and we are slowly allowed to get outside more, it has been precious to see the sunshine making an appearance this month. Litha 2020 is promising to be a little more flexible than Beltane, and, while we can’t necessarily do all the things we might like to do to celebrate this Sabbat, we do have the freedom to breathe in the air of Mother Nature and observe the growth and abundance that the Earth provides in the Summer.Â
There is some difference in precisely when Litha is celebrated, according to different traditions. Astrologically, Litha occurs at the time when the sun is at its highest point, which, in 2020, occurs on the 24th June. However, Litha is traditionally celebrated in many traditions at the midpoint of the Summer (Midsummer), which occurs on June 20th or 21st. As with all things spiritual, there are no hard and fast rules about how you conduct your own practice, so go with what feels right for you.Â

We are in the midst of an historic event. Essentially, we are all, as a global society, experiencing the same traumatic event. Of course, there are different levels to which we experience this trauma, depending on our location, our wealth status, our access to facilities and treatment and so on, but for absolutely everyone who is feeling anxious, depressed and stressed during this global pandemic, I want you to hear this:Â you are not alone.Â
A study conducted in late March found that 22% of all UK adults were feeling anxiety surround the COVID-19 pandemic. Most of us, worldwide, are in some form of lockdown, shelter-in-place or isolation, and we know that this can negatively impact mental health, even for those who do not usually suffer from anxiety or depression. On top of this, we have financial and economical strain, we are separated from our family and friends, and lack certainty about what is yet to come. So, as spiritual and witchy folk, how can we combat this mental strain and take the best possible care of ourselves? Well, we have a leg-up: we have magic.Â

The moon has always been fascinating to us human beings. Sometimes it is the subject of poets and artists, it keeps revealing beautiful discoveries to ufologists and scientists.Â
Nothing lights up the sky during the night like the moon. Everyone would gaze up to see and admire its beauty. Some would even offer to get the moon as a measure of their love. But the moon is more than just a fascinating celestial body. It exudes strong healing energy especially the full and new moon. The moon, especially the Full Moon, stirs up our emotions and amplify mystical powers. When the moon is shining bright and full it is best to harness energy for healing, the best time for meditating, recharging, and clearing chakras. This is why we celebrate it and why we have full moon rituals.Â
