The crisp fall days of flannels, warm apple cider, and cozy nights by the fire are finally upon us once again as we steadily make our way into autumn. Autumn is a beautiful and abundant time of reaping what we have sown with bountiful celebration as we shift our focus into slowing down during the colder half of the year. Spiritually, it is a powerful time of self-reflection, letting go, and transition as the veil between worlds grows thin, making our magic stronger than ever. Because of this, doing what we can to welcome in and honor this energy is essential to honor it and truly make the most of it, as well as enhance our spells and rituals. And what better way to do that than with setting up our own autumn altar?
So for today, we wanted to go over one of our favorite ways to decorate your own altar to welcome in autumn, as well as a few product recommendations to help you do just that. So, without further ado, here’s our quick guide to setting up an autumn altar to truly make the most of the powerful energy of the season.
Starting off, the first way to set up your altar space for autumn is to bring in some corresponding colors of the season as well as natural décor items. For this, a few ideas might include decorations in colors of red, gold, brown, yellow, and orange. For natural decorations ideas, autumn is a great time to go out and collect pieces from your own backyard to put on your altar. For this, you might include pieces such as:
Above all else, you’ll want to include anything that truly speaks fall to you, even if it isn’t on our list, as this will help your altar to better align with your energy and intentions.
For example, one of our favorite décor pieces for your altar décor or home décor in general during autumn is the Witchy Bamboo Wooden Spoons. Perfect for stirring up a little magic for your fall-themed recipes, these eco-friendly kitchen spoons are lightweight and functional, with three unique witchy designs carved into them that any witch will appreciate. They are also heat-resistant and can be used for everything from cooking to stirring potions or even hanging as wall décor. Truly, these spoons are one of a kind and a great item to have on your altar for any season.
Next, alongside colors and decorative items, the next item to incorporate on your altar for seasonal changes is candles. Multi-purpose in use, candles are one of the most essential pieces used on an altar and can help to create an entirely different vibe in your spellwork. Not to mention, they can incorporate many of the scents and herbs of the season to expand your connection to the season further.
With that said, you’ll want to look for candles in colors of yellow, red, orange, brown, or gold, as these are all colors that correspond with the season. For scents, cinnamon, sandalwood, apple, frankincense, pumpkin spice, orange spice, sage, and patchouli are a few of the most common choices people traditionally look for during this time of year, as these connect directly with the autumn season and can enhance it’s magic further. For our personal recommendation, however, we have chosen the Beware the Autumn People candle that is all-natural, vegan, and cruelty-free and features warm fragrances of sugar, spice, and baked apples to mimic the smell of misty fall days, autumn carnivals, and dampened fall leaves from the memories of our childhood.
Next, it wouldn’t be a seasonal altar setup if we didn’t add in a couple of crystals. Seasonal crystals help to amplify the energy of the season unlike any other, and since autumn is all about being grateful, connecting to the spirit world, and letting go, there are a few crystals that stand out more than others. A few of these include:
Of course, a traditional rule for choosing crystals for your altar is to go to the ones you are drawn to the most. Therefore, even if it didn’t make our list, be sure to always go with what your intuition pulls you to when it comes to choosing crystals and other items for your altar to make the magic truly as strong as possible.
Next, incense is another important part of decorating and your altar and should help to represent the beautiful earthy smells of the season. A few ideas for corresponding incense includes:
However, our personal favorite scent for autumn is the rich and stimulating fall aroma of our Quoth the Raven incense. With a sensual, mystifying, and spicy aroma, this unique air-purifying incense has been carefully designed with all the key scents of the season, including warm cinnamon, spicy clove essential oil, and calming orange citrus. Not to mention, aside from its warm fall scent, this incense has been carefully designed with the energy of the season to help ignite your personal power & confidence to allow divine inspiration to radiate freely from within.
And as always, this incense has been handcrafted with all-natural ingredients and is 100% vegan and cruelty-free, so you never have to worry about hurting the environment.
Next, protection items are always a must on your altar, no matter what season it is, and it’s always a good idea to change them up from time to time to help keep the power strong and aligned. A few ideas for altar protection items might include:
While protection items are all unique to the individual, our personal favorite items to use in the autumn for protection are the pentacle protection bell and the mini broom. The pentacle protection bell is a simple altar decoration with a pentacle tied together with branches and rope followed by three hanging bells below it. This is an excellent tool that incorporates the protection power of the elements as well as the pentacle itself. Not to mention, this hanging piece also incorporates the power of sound therapy and sound cleansing and can be rung at any time to cleanse away the negative energy in your space before a spell or ritual.
On the other hand, the triple moon with bell mini broom is a small 6.7 x 2-inch handcrafted broom designed to sweep away the negative energy on your altar or your space. Decorated and protected with the symbol of the triple moon and a beautiful bell, this travel-sized broom is truly one of a kind and can be used in spellwork to sweep away old intentions and make way for the new. And just as the autumn leaves teach us how to let go, allow this broom to guide you to new energy and new magic to truly help you make the most of this powerful season.
And finally, for us, another big part of decorating your autumn altar is to make sure you’re switching out old beauty products with new beauty products of the season to help welcome in and absorb the healing properties of the seasonal magic as well as ensure your skin is getting the proper care it deserves through the changing seasons. From sprays to lotions, here are our top favorite autumn beauty products.
First of all, the Autumn Witch Vegan Lotion is an all-natural one-of-a-kind formula perfect for the autumn season. Made with skin-loving oils, this organic, vegan, and non-GMO lotion has been carefully designed with natural ingredients including shea butter, jojoba oil, aloe leaf, and avocado oil for the ultimate hydrating combination for seasonal dry skin. Not to mention, this powerful hand lotion has also been enhanced with the key scent of warm pumpkin spice to create a truly uplifting aroma that autumn lovers will die for. This lotion is also lightweight and provides long-lasting relief for the skin without leaving behind any greasiness.
And lastly, it wouldn’t be autumn if you didn’t have a beautiful fall scent to anoint your body with. The Autumn Witch Vegan Perfume has been designed with a coconut oil base to keep the ingredients all-natural as well as help the scent stick to the body for longer. With a roll-on design, this perfume mimics the smell of the Autumn Witch Vegan Hand Lotion with a warm pumpkin spice smell inspired by the October woods to help you truly get in the mood of the season. It is overall an excellent addition to your altar collection and can be used to help uplift your energy to prepare you for a fall-themed ritual, as well as keep you protected with all the energies of the season.
Overall, autumn is a beautiful season of change, renewal, gratitude, and intention-setting. With the energy of the spirit world heightened and our magic becoming just a little stronger, setting up an autumn altar is the perfect way to make the most of the powerful energy of the season, as well as honor the many unique healing aspects that it brings into our lives. We hope this article has given you a few ideas for how to set up your own autumn altar to truly make the most of this beautiful and bountiful time of the year.

Fan of the dilly-dally? Our relationship game is on the starting block for this Total Solar Eclipse in Aries. It’s up to you to surrender to your true love nature to heal a sense of identity OR keep the mask on until the next eclipse season. Let the Nesters unite! You’re not alone, as our collective psyche as a species is going to have this axis eclipsed. Think war & peace, sport & rest, Mars & Venus, Aries & Libra.
What’s under review for this total solar eclipse? The potential balance of our true cardinal fire nature (Aries) coupled with our diplomatic and conditioned peace-at-all-costs (Libra) is up for an overhaul review (oh, is that all…). Why is it more pronounced for us this time around? Because the North Node of the Moon s currently transiting Aries and the collective has Pluto’s ingress to Aquarius supporting evolution at this time: freedom to be. Can’t put it any simpler!
