How to Put a Little Magic in Your Morning Routine

Sometimes we forget that even the mundane can be magical. Wondering how to start your day out like a boss witch? Try our tips for getting ready with a little magic in the morning!

  1. Before Your Feet Hit the Floor

When the alarm goes off and you have to drag yourself out of bed, take a few minutes to think about any dreams you had that night. Also, remind yourself of your goals for the day. Do this before your feet even hit the floor.

  1. Morning Coffee or Tea

One easy way to incorporate magic into your morning routine is to enchant your morning cup of coffee or tea. Stir it in a clockwise fashion and say, “Morning coffee wake me up. All day long I’ll have good luck.” Or something similar. Then sip and enjoy while watching the sunrise.

  1. Shower with Intention

Choose an intention for your morning shower – do you want to cleanse your aura of negative energy? Invigorate and energize? Draw love into your life? Be inspired throughout the day? Wash with a magical natural soap infused with herbs that match your intentions.

  1. Magical Hair & Makeup

Instead of rushing to slap some makeup on your face in the morning, do it mindfully and with intention. Makeup in ancient times held different meanings – to the Egyptians, eye makeup was worn to protect the soul (eyes are the windows to the soul). Makeup was also worn to convey social status. So act like a magical queen and apply your makeup with intention! Apply eyeliner for spiritual protection. Eyeshadow to appeal to the opposite sex. Lip balm to induce lust.

  1. Dressing Magically

The same as with magical makeup, dress yourself to match your intention for the day. Choose colors that correspond to your desires and goals. For example, if you’re needing a boost of energy and self-confidence wear orange. To increase intuition and psychic abilities, wear purple or black. As you pull each piece of clothing on, imagine you are dressing yourself in your goals.

  1. Drive & Divine

Dread the drive to work in the morning? Instead of yelling at the cars around you, take a deep breath. Relax. And when you’re stopped at a red light or stuck in traffic, do a little license plate divination. Let the numbers and letters on signs bring you messages from the Universe. The drive to work will actually be tolerable with a little magic!

I was loving this article until I got to the part advising us to “[wear] eyeshadow to appeal to the opposite sex” – that is sad! Are we not past that kind of thinking yet? I guess not. Bummer.

Rituals for Wealth & Abundance
Rituals for Wealth & Abundance

August 07, 2020

In this, the year of 2020, of plague and protest, of economic strain, there has been financial difficulty worldwide. While magick may not simply drop bags of cash into your lap (wouldn’t that be nice?), there are strong magickal energies on which we can draw to attract abundance to ourselves.

In almost any corner of the world, you will come across traditions of money magick, and each culture has its own spiritual format for performing it. If you feel drawn to your own ancestral practices, why not research them and use that wealth of energy in your own workings?
Above all, the most important thing to remember is that magick is all about intent. Whichever ritual you choose to perform, take the time and space to really allow yourself to ease into a peaceful, intentional mindset.

The Witch in Pop Culture
The Witch in Pop Culture

The witch has had numerous faces over the centuries. She’s gone from the village wise person to the heretic burnt at the stake, and back again. Today, the witch’s image is changing slowly. The perception of the witch as an archetype has a lot to do with how he or she is portrayed in Hollywood.
Think about your favorite Hollywood witches. Are you a fan of Maleficent? Ursula? Queen Ravenna? Let’s take a look at the witch in popular culture and think about how this image affects society’s beliefs and reactions to modern witchcraft practice.

When I think of how the witch is portrayed by the media, I realize most of it is fantastical. Either the witch is a frightening, monster-like creature or has unwieldy supernatural abilities. Take for example the first witch characters in Hollywood: Samantha Stephens in the 1960’s sitcom Bewitched and Gillian in the 1958 film Bell, Book and Candle. What do Samantha Stephens and Gillian have in common?

Leaning into Litha 2020
Leaning into Litha 2020

June 17, 2020

As the lockdown eases around the world, and we are slowly allowed to get outside more, it has been precious to see the sunshine making an appearance this month. Litha 2020 is promising to be a little more flexible than Beltane, and, while we can’t necessarily do all the things we might like to do to celebrate this Sabbat, we do have the freedom to breathe in the air of Mother Nature and observe the growth and abundance that the Earth provides in the Summer.

There is some difference in precisely when Litha is celebrated, according to different traditions. Astrologically, Litha occurs at the time when the sun is at its highest point, which, in 2020, occurs on the 24th June. However, Litha is traditionally celebrated in many traditions at the midpoint of the Summer (Midsummer), which occurs on June 20th or 21st. As with all things spiritual, there are no hard and fast rules about how you conduct your own practice, so go with what feels right for you.
