How to Cast a Love Spell for Valentine’s Day

Do you have a date this Valentine’s Day? Are you In Love with a special someone? No? Well don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Valentines should never have to be lonely for the crafty modern witch. Here are some rituals you can perform to attract love this Valentine’s Day. Please note that you can also use these rituals to strengthen any existing relationships.

Ritual I

The first ritual to perform starts by purchasing a red rose and ribbon. The ribbon is meant to represent your expectations and desires while the rose represents you. On Valentine’s Day, find a quiet room that brings you comfort to perform the ritual there - You can also perform it at your Altar. Hold the ribbon in your hands and affirm all your wishes and desires. You can affirm anything from strengthening your current relationship to hoping to meet someone new. Meditate on this for and while and gently blow on the ribbon to finish.

The next step is to twist the ribbon around the stem of the rose and tie it with a knot. When you are done with this, begin meditating on yourself and your wish. The rose represents you and you alone so it is imperative to ensure it doesn’t come into contact with anyone else. After you are done, find the perfect hiding spot for your rose. Love will surely locate you after you perform this ritual.

Ritual II

For the second ritual, you will need a candle, a candle holder and a sharp quartz. Again, in a quiet room or at your altar, use the sharp side of the quartz to engrave a heart on the candle. As you draw the heart, imagine that all your heart’s desires have come to pass. After you draw the heart, place the candle on the candle holder with the quartz next to it.

When you light the candle, continue to meditate and believe in your heart that your desires have been granted. These rituals will certainly attract love to you this valentine or help strengthen your existing relationships.

Ritual III

For this ritual, you will need a pink candle, an apple, two roses (red and white) and a red ribbon. Light your candle and place it on an empty table. Next is to cut the apple into two halves and place your roses in vases on each side of the apple. Meditate o the intensity of the flame, calling upon the love you wish to attract. If you do not have any specific person to call upon, you may wish for the one destined for you.

If you are looking to attract new love, rekindle an old flame or strengthen your bond with a loved one, these rituals will surely help you this Valentine’s day. Don’t forget to take the necessary precautions and perform your rituals in a conducive environment for effective results.

The Witch in Pop Culture
The Witch in Pop Culture

The witch has had numerous faces over the centuries. She’s gone from the village wise person to the heretic burnt at the stake, and back again. Today, the witch’s image is changing slowly. The perception of the witch as an archetype has a lot to do with how he or she is portrayed in Hollywood.
Think about your favorite Hollywood witches. Are you a fan of Maleficent? Ursula? Queen Ravenna? Let’s take a look at the witch in popular culture and think about how this image affects society’s beliefs and reactions to modern witchcraft practice.

When I think of how the witch is portrayed by the media, I realize most of it is fantastical. Either the witch is a frightening, monster-like creature or has unwieldy supernatural abilities. Take for example the first witch characters in Hollywood: Samantha Stephens in the 1960’s sitcom Bewitched and Gillian in the 1958 film Bell, Book and Candle. What do Samantha Stephens and Gillian have in common?

Leaning into Litha 2020
Leaning into Litha 2020

June 17, 2020

As the lockdown eases around the world, and we are slowly allowed to get outside more, it has been precious to see the sunshine making an appearance this month. Litha 2020 is promising to be a little more flexible than Beltane, and, while we can’t necessarily do all the things we might like to do to celebrate this Sabbat, we do have the freedom to breathe in the air of Mother Nature and observe the growth and abundance that the Earth provides in the Summer.

There is some difference in precisely when Litha is celebrated, according to different traditions. Astrologically, Litha occurs at the time when the sun is at its highest point, which, in 2020, occurs on the 24th June. However, Litha is traditionally celebrated in many traditions at the midpoint of the Summer (Midsummer), which occurs on June 20th or 21st. As with all things spiritual, there are no hard and fast rules about how you conduct your own practice, so go with what feels right for you.
